January 2011

I have no idea how to begin this new post. January 2011 has almost disappeared and February 2011 is fast approaching.

I have no idea what 2011 holds for Cartersville Baptist Church. For the past several months our attendance has been down in Sunday School, Worship Service and the children's program. The one area that is doing great is youth. The youth area is  exploding!

What does this mean! Especially for David and I. Why are some areas not doing well and this one area doing great! David and I have been praying constantly over this and still no answer from God. All we can do is pray and God's will and guidance.

Speaking of our youth - tonight the youth are going Midnight Bowling! Something they have not done in a long time. David and I are going to meet them at Cici's Pizza and then go bowling. Oh my, I hope I am up to all this excitment. Our youth leaders are wonderful. I am so thankful to Chip Kempson and Alex Weatherly who have shown the youth of church how Godly men should be.

Please continue to pray for church. Please seek God's will and see where he wants you to serve at Cartersville. Also, if there is anyone out there reading this who does not have a home church we would love to have you visit Cartersville. The one thing that has not changed is the loving spirit that flows through our small church. Come and experience that for yourself - we would love to have you worship with us.

More importantly, if there is anyone out there who has not made a profession of faith please consider doing so today. Time is drawing near for the Lord to return. I want everyone to be ready - if you need to talk to someone about becoming a Christian contact or pastor, David George or myself, his wife, we would be glad to talk to anyone about the most important decision someone ever makes.

July 2010

July has been a pretty busy month for our church.

First of all we celebrated Independance Day with a picnic and fireworks. Everyone had a great time. As soon as this event was through we started putting the finishing touches on Vacation Bible School.

VBS was held the week of July 12-16 at 6:30 pm each evening. Supper was provided each evening by a wonderful group of ladies from the church. Approximately 50 children and youth participated in VBS this year. This was one of the best Vacation Bible Schools that we have had! In fact it has made me start wanting to plan next year's VBS. Am I crazy? YES!!!

As soon as VBS was over, David and I went on vacation. We spent a week in Florida seeing Disney World. We were so tired when we return but we had a Blast. It was so nice to be able to share such a wonderful experience with such a great husband and friend.

When we returned from vacation, eleven of our children and youth left for Camp Lavida. They will return on Friday, July 30th with all kinds of wonderful experiences to tell us about.

I just want to say a BIG thankyou to everyone who has contributed to all of these events. From grilling hamburgers, to fixing VBS meals, to transporting the children and youth to camp. So much as happened over the past four weeks and I praise God that He made it all possible.

Let us continue to travel the path that God has set before our church. May be think BIG instead of small so that we can spread the gospel of Christ through out our community.

Please continue to pray for Cartersville Baptist church as we look foward to the coming months and what God has in store for us.

National Day of Prayer

Last night our church observed the National Day of Prayer a day early. Young and old gathered in the field next to the church to pray for our community, city, county, state and government. It was truly a blessing to see everyone with their heads bowed praying at the same time. As the prayers ended, we moved closer to the road to let go red, white, and blue balloons to let everyone know in our area that we had prayed. We had attached cards to the balloons with information about our church. In David's closing prayer he prayed specifically for the balloons and who might receive one. He prayed that the balloons would land in someone's hand who might need a home church. This was a great celebration.

The next few months, are packed full of exciting and wonderful things happening at Cartersville. We look forward to this Sunday in Celebration of Mother's Day. In a few weeks we will celebrate with our high school graduates as we present Bibles to those who are graduating from high school and heading off to college. At the end of the month, we will celebrate Baptism with the potential of four being baptised. We will also share special music and testimonies during this service and of course end with a great covered dish meal afterwards.

During the month of June we will be preparing for camp and Vacation Bible School.

Please come and be a part of the exciting and wonderful things that are happening at Cartersville. We look forward to seeing you this coming Sunday morning and in the weeks of come.

Wednesday after Easter

Today is the first Wednesday after the Easter Drama and I am kind of at a loss as to what to do tonight at church with the children. I think I am going to let them have fun outside. They have worked so hard over the past few months. They deserve it.

Easter Sunday was a great service. We had almost 100 in attendance which included invited friends and family members. The drama was a success. Plus we had one youth who made a public profession of faith. That made all our hard work with it.

My wish is that we would have that many in attendance every Sunday. But that cannot be done without God's help. Which means I need to be getting down on my knees and praying and asking God for wisdom and guidance on how to grow our church. Not only do I wish our church would grow numerically but spiritually also.

Preparing for Easter

The month of March has been an extremly busy month. Our children and youth have been busily practicing for the Easter Drama. I am hoping that the church will be over flowing Sunday morning with those wanting to see the drama. If you want to receive a blessing, be at Cartersville Baptist Church this Sunday morning at 9 am for the Easter Drama "Revelation".
