Christmas at Cartersville

Christmas has official begun at Cartersville Baptist Church. The church has been beautifully decorated by a wonderful church member. If you have not seen the church decorations then you need to come to church to see the decorations. I would love for you to come and hear the Word of God but you can come to see the decorations too - lol. David has begun the series of Advent. The first Sunday he spoke on Hope - the hope that Christ brings into our lives when we accept Him as our personal Savior. The second Sunday he spoke of Peace - the peace the Christ gives us as we live our lives for Him.

Saturday the Christmas Shop was held for the children in our congregation. Approximately 22 children went through the shop as they "purchased" gifts for their parents. The children decorated cookies, had their pictures taken for a gift for their grandparents, and had lunch. We all had a great time. Adults and children.

This Wednesday night we will enjoy a meal of hotdogs and all the trimmings and the Preschool Choir will rehearse for their Chritmas performance. I am so looking forward to hearing the preschool children sing their songs, and the older children recite their Christmas scripture verses. We have a young girl who will be singing along with other great music. Make plans to be with us on Sunday, Dec. 20th as we celebate the Christmas Season with our gifts and talents at Cartersville.

As we enjoy this Christmas season may Christ be the center of all your celebrations. Let the love of Christ shine through you in whatever you do, say, or give.

Blesssings

This is the week of Thanksgiving and I have so many things to be thankful for. First of all I am so glad that I am a Christian and that Jesus Christ is my personal Savior. What a wonderful thing to be thankful for in today's society. I am also thankful for my family. This year has been a tough one for our family. My sister had a serious operation at the first operation and we almost lost her. David's mom passed away in May and my mom has been seriously ill since September of this year. But through it all God has sustained us. He has given us a precious granddaughter to love on and to bring joy into our lives. Our daughter is doing well at FMU and our son and his wife and enjoying their little one in Kentucky. My sister is doing extremely well and my mom is getting a little better.

Cartersville Baptist Church is another thing to be thankful for. David and I have been there for approximately seven years and we have loved every minute of it. The church has grown in numbers and I believe we are finally seeing the church grow spiritually. People are changing and you can see it through their every day walk with the Lord.

Wow what a year this has been for our family. I am just praying that God will show up in 2010 in our personal family and in our church family.

Praising the Lord at Cartersville

Today was a wonderful day at Cartersville. A young family with four children joined our church. This family has been coming to our church for a while but they finally made it official today. It is so great to see a family come and be a part of our wonderful church family. We have been blessed by them already and I know we will continue to be blessed as we see them grow in the Lord.

Homecoming

Yesterday was a great service. Almost 100 people were present for the wonderful service. The day started with donuts and coffee in the fellowship hall. I was surprised to see how many turned out at 9:30 in the morning to share breakfast with fellow church members. Then we all moved to the sanctuary where we shared a time of testimony and videos of past and present times. After a short break the morning service began. The preschool choir was absolutely wonderful. This was their first performance and they looked so cute in their white shirts and blue jeans. They actually looked like a small choir. After a time of music and scripture we all enjoyed a time of fellowship sharing a covered dish meal. It was a great time of fun, food, and fellowship with new and old Cartersville members.

Looking ahead

I am so excited about this coming Sunday and our Homecoming Service. The day will be long but it will certainly be worth it. The day will start with Coffee and "Krispy Creme" Donuts at 9:30 am. I am wondering how many of our faithful will be present for this time. Some have already said they will only be present for the 11:00 am service. That really worries me because the whole morning has been set aside to celebrate what Cartersville has been through over the past 135 years. If someone misses part of this service they will certainly miss a blessing. We are having a time of testimony of how God has blessed our church through the years. A power point presentation has been created to display the changes that have taken place. Special music is being planned. And as always, a great meal is going to be served. I just wish our church members would get as excited as I am about this upcoming service. Well, the Lord knows what is in everyones heart so He might be planning a big surprise for me.

October Update

It has been a few months since I have posted on here so I wanted to get you guys updated. Since my last post we have had to enlarge the nursery at Cartersville. We can have anywhere from two to ten in the nursery on Sunday mornings. That meant more room for the babies and older children plus the workers. Two really good pastor friends took time out of their week to cut a door out of a wall and join two classrooms together. The effort on their part might have been small to them but it was a big thing to us at Cartersville. It has given us the ability to have all the children in two rooms and to be able to keep the children safe and having fun all at the same time.

A couple of months ago the church installed a new air conditioning unit in the sanctuary and education rooms. This has made a tremendous difference. I can't wait to VBS next year to see if it will keep up with us running in and out. Also, the church has installed new flooring in the fellowship hall. The room looks twice as big now. This past weekend a few church members painted a Sunday School room. The church has been making building improvements all year - and they look wonderful.

If you have not visit Cartersville in a while - or use to come and have not been in a few months - come and join us and see the changes we have made. All that has been changed has been done to glorify God and His work at Cartersville Baptist Church.

Last night at church was fun. The kid's had balloon fights and boy was it messy. Even the little one got in to it. We just finished VBS last week so I wanted to let the kids have a little down time before we get back to the normal routine.

I am looking forward to this coming Sunday morning. We are dedicating four baby boys at our church. We are a church that went from having no babies to having an abudance of babies. The Lord has blessed us tremendouly.

First blog in a while

I have not written anything since November of last year. I just have not felt like writing anything. Since November we have celebrated the Christmas Holidays, Carley has moved back home, Andrew and Ashley announced they were having a baby, David's mom pass away, and that is just a few things that have happened.

We just finished Vacation Bible School at Cartersville. We had approximately 30-35 children (including infants) attend. Everyone had a blast. We have prayed that the seed has been planted and that it has not fallen on bad soil.

Yesterday was Father's Day. We had a slim crowd at church but a good crowd. A lot of people are on vacation and went to church with their Father's. Andrew and Ashley came to church yesterday. David made the comment that his grandchild had worshiped with him for the first time yesterday. I just started crying. I really believe he is excited about this grandchild even though he does not want to show it.

I will try and do better this summer with my posts. Maybe through this blog someone will see the need for Christ. That is my prayer!
